Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Master Instructor Tony Morel, Brown Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, is now training with Professor Ronny Lis to offer world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in South Austin.

You will learn takedowns, pin escapes, sweeps reversals. All self defense techniques are covered, including striking, clinching, throws and proper application of submission holds. This type of training environment will give the student the necessary tools to truly protect themselves in virtually any situation. It also provides a common sense approach to self defense. We train while remaining FUN with progressive resistance in a fun and hard core workout!

What is Jiu-Jitsu?
"Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art developed with the concepts of leverage and technique at its core. Because it is easier to dominate an opponent using the floor to assist in balance and control , most of the training in jiu-jitsu takes place on the ground. Being able to dominate and neutralize a larger, more aggressive opponent is a staple of the art. This is achieved through ground control positions and leverage-maximizing techniques designed to dominate and neutralize a larger, more aggressive opponent."

What do the Classes consist of?
We begin class with some light calisthenics and stretching. Following our warm-up we then begin drilling technique. These drills when done over and over help form muscle memory and help our students retain technique. After our drilling is completed we then begin to spar (or roll). Rolling is when students are able to put their techniques to the test with training partners who can resist and counter just as they would in an actual fight, providing valuable real-world experience should the techniques ever need to be applied in an actual fight.
