Sensei Iris Slevin
I began training in 2003 when my son was 4 years old. In 2005 I began teaching a children’s class in the dojo. This was the beginning of my love for teaching martial arts to young students. Between 2007 and 2014 I taught all ranks and all ages. I began training at n 2016 and began teaching the class for ages 4-6 years old in 2018.
The Yama Kan Kids class is designed to specifically work on the individual child’s ability relative to age, emotional maturity and physical ability. This class is to prepare them for the training Kaju Kids. Skills and techniques involve building strength, stamina, balance and success with basic Japanese Karate foundations that can be carried into their black belt training with Kajukenbo.
